Earlier this month the babies, yes, both babies headed off to preschool. It feels odd that both are away from me three times a week, for three hours per day. I miss my little sidekicks but it is amazing to have three hours to myself. It’s insane how fast those three hours fly by! I barely drive to the gym, workout and then I feel like I am racing to pick them up again. The kids are loving their teachers. Brayden is in Payton’s classroom from last year and Payton is right next door to him. Every teacher Payton passes says hi to her and I have to say that she loves that. She is already basing her outfits on how many compliments she will receive, too! You don’t have to tell me how much trouble we are in for, it’s clear as day!! This first month has been a huge transition for us late sleepers. We’re setting alarms to wake-up to get them to school on-time. So far, I have been doing pretty well, especially on Monday’s when I work the night before. We’re keeping Tuesdays and Thursdays apart of the routine by getting to the gym at the same time we’re usually heading off to school. Making sure they have breakfast before school is an issue because they just aren’t hungry. Do you have this problem? I feel guilty sending them off to school with a minimal amount of food in their bellies. Thank goodness for snack at school otherwise I would really feel like a bad mom. Here’s to a fun year ahead of three and four-year-old preschool!

I look forward to Summer every year, I mean, who doesn’t? The past two weeks for me have been crazy. Two weeks ago Payton was in horse camp so we were in the car most of the day, traveling back-and-forth between drop-off’s and pick-up’s. Last week we had the in-laws arrive and between doctors appointments for myself, working four days, a trip to the ER and urgent care for Brayden and then the holiday weekend I have felt depleted. I have been sleeping enough but I just feel like I’ve been on overdrive. Over the weekend I ended up having to work both days which isn’t the norm. We were super busy, which just seems to be the reoccurring theme in my life right now. I decided to drive over to Shelter Island to walk around the bay and take in the gorgeous San Diego weather. I needed to refuel and gain back some mental clarity before heading home. I don’t know about you but there is just something refreshing about Dr Pepper, it’s my go-to soda when I drink it because it’s unique and delish flavor, especially on a hot Summer day! My other fav, which, if you know me well enough you know that SNICKERS® 2-to-go is my favorite candy bar. SNICKERS® + a cool refreshing Dr Pepper = one happy Melissa (just ask my husband). Since I was taking the time for myself to enjoy the bay I brought my fav’s with me and sat in the park watching the boats come in and out of the harbor. The sound of the water hitting the rocks and the wind ever so slightly knocking the ropes into the boats was therapeutic. That hour I spent by myself fueled me for the rest of the weekend and prepped me for the week to start. It’s amazing how something so simple can make a huge difference in your day!

Jet Setting with Disney’s FROZEN #FROZENfun #CollectiveBias
So what did I pack? Well, I first started out with purchasing the FROZEN Anna & Elsa suitcase for Payton. I let them pretend pack and then when they fell asleep I packed each of their suitcases with their activities so they would be surprised when we boarded the plane. This was key! As we boarded and got situated I filled the back of the seats with: A Tale of Two Sisters book, Troll Magic coloring book with crayons, Big Snowman, Little Snowman book and the best idea was the FROZEN invisible ink coloring book! They both thought it was the coolest thing watching images and colors appear, this honestly locked both of their attention for 60% of the flight. I also loaded their tablets with Olaf’s Freeze Fall app. I also packed each of their lunch boxes with fun snacks, including healthy and special treats.
I knew that the take-off might be a little scary for them but I reminded them how brave Anna was when she embraced the snow to go look for Elsa in the now frozen Arrendelle. When I explained this to them Payton excitedly explained back how brave they were being for traveling to snowy New Jersey for the first time! Exactly my sweet California girl!
Our first flight was the longest leg so halfway through I turned on FROZEN and they thought it was so cool to watch a movie from my laptop. Make sure to purchase a headphone splitter if you have multiple children or if you want to listen along with your child!
When we arrived at our layover we explored the airport. They rode the walkways, cautiously entering and exiting which the folks in Chicago loved as they were hustling and bustling through! When we reached our terminal we had some lunch and once they were finished I let them know that I had a special gift for them because they behaved so well on the flight. They were so excited and appreciated that we acknowledged their good behavior on this new journey. Payton loved the Anna Sparkle Doll and as we took off on the next flight she wasn’t as scared because she was hugging Anna telling her that they would be brave together!
The last few days have been exhausting but I have to let you know that with the help of pre-planning our flight with #FROZENfun activities from our favorite movie, it helped create a memorable experience. My kids have been thanking me nonstop for making their first vacation away from home so fun.
Payton’s 4th Birthday {Disneyland}
Brayden already getting to dart because he made contact with Goofy. See the disinterest with Mrs. Clause? |
We’re still all good here. Engaged young boy somewhat paying attention to his Grandma’s direction…somewhat… |
what else is in there? I’ve already tasted all the sprinkles. I need MORE! |
Payton, bless her patient heart. She decorated her cookie, obliged for her photo and stayed put with Grandma to watch the show. |
Grandma now decorating Brayden’s $6 cookie. |
Plethora of affection for Mickey & his pals. |
“holy s*** mom! It’s actually Mickey Mouse!” |
Okay, I’ll give him a hug. He seems alright and he sings about hot dogs. |
But Goofy is just like me! We’re so cool we blow kisses to one another. |
I ran away from my mom and found another girl. Slowly but surely I will work my way over. |
we also finally talked mommy into purchasing two balloons, the yellow one is still floating high onto her ceiling 5 weeks later. take that $7 balloon that mommy thought wouldn’t last! |
we gave mommy a run for her money today, can’t you tell how worn out she is? but I got an Anna crown so I am good… |
Grandma enjoying my craziness and for me giving my mommy a run for her money. payback!! |
