My PB + J

honored.

there’s just something about weddings that make me giddy. if i could pick my dream job it would be a professional wedding/party planner. i have only been a day-of planner for one wedding, it was a tough job, plus i was in my first trimester with payton. i always feel honored when people choose me to bake for their special occasions but i feel even more honored when someone chooses me as their wedding baker. i have done five weddings and i have a tasting this sunday for a potential august wedding. this past sunday, yes, mother’s day, i baked for my hair stylist. it was a bit chaotic because we were knee deep into the move and had originally planned on baking at the old house but when the workers were in my way i opted to bake at the new place. thankfully, everything went as planned except for a minor mishap with the brownie pops, which in the end made the dessert table pop, no pun intended. i am thankful that the hubby was able to whip up my cake pop stands just in time and for my mom who spent her mother’s day watching the kids and me stress out, but then again, what’s unusual about me freaking out?

speaking of mother’s day, i didn’t get much of one. i spent the day slightly melancholy, i picked up my own starbucks when i made a 7 am grocery store run and then busted out all the cupcakes/cake. i was sad that jim and payton never really said happy mother’s day, but i just kept telling myself it’s a hallmark holiday and i am reminded everyday how lucky i am. around 9 pm i did finally get a random “happy mother’s day, mommy” from payton as she stood in brayden’s s room. i of course squealed and started crying because it was the first time she had ever said that phrase. i am thankful for my little family, for my mother who loves me unconditionally and deals with me calling her for any damn reason and my sister who is one hell of a mother to my nieces and nephew.

saturday night we did meet in murrieta for a pre-mother’s day dinner.

the spread: a 6″ top tiered cake, 130 cupcakes (red velvet and devils food), 50 brownie pops and 50 chocolate chip cookies. the candy was provided by the bride, i just set it up. the table was a tad crammed but the only table provided.

the candy choices were: sour straws, wax bottles and gummy bears. if you’re planning an event go for candy that means something or matches your theme. the guests of this wedding only really ate the gummy bears.
