My PB + J

4 Month Sweet Baby P

Dear Sweet Little P-

We have reached your fourth month. With each passing month I recall the day I met you and wonder where you had been my whole life. You are a dream baby, literally. I know each mother brags about their child but everyone who meets you or hears about how good you are tells us how lucky we are and wonders when we will give you a sibling. We know we are blessed to have a child who is happy 95% of the time, sleeps 8-12 hours a night, is calm, content and overall loves everything you encounter. This includes your big sister, Delilah, who gives you countless kisses in your mouth, grooming and licks. But, you show her who’s boss by pulling her fur and tracking her every moment. I cannot wait for the day when you tell her “no! duh-wri–wah“. For now, we will settle for the countless copying coos that you give us and giggles that come deep from your belly. Day’s where you sleep and sleep I cannot wait for you to wake-up because you are hilarious and such a joy to be around and truthfully I am bored without you. You also have a new found love for your hands, anything that your hands can reach will soothe you for a while; including our fingers which seem to bring you to dreamland on fussy days. You had been eyeing your toes for almost a month and with each day you became more flexible, finally getting those little piggies into your mouth. I love observing your determination on working those little babies into your mouth, you crack me up every time. Your head is pretty stable now so you finally got to go into your jumperoo this past weekend. You love it. Over the past month you have started teething, there is no sign of your first tooth but your gums are becoming more white. I seem to think it will pop through right around next month, we’ll see if I am right. As usual with each passing month you get to experience more and more and you are growing like a weed. Here is what else has happened this past month:
– The most major event was that you finally got to meet your Grandmom Julie from New Jersey. Her and Tony came out on Grandma Barr’s birthday and stayed until after you were baptized on your 4-month birthday (4/18). While they were here we took you to downtown Disney to show them another part of SoCal.
– You and I were baptized together. Your God Parents are Travis and Suzanne.
– You celebrated your first Easter and first major earthquake.
-Mommy went back to work and naturally we all survived.
– You rolled over six times on Easter night.
– Sleeping exclusively in your crib unless Mommy misses you and steals you from your crib.
– Not a fan of your swing any longer.
Four-Month Stats:
15 pounds 1.9 ounces (90th percentile)
25 inches long (90th percentile)
head circumference 42
Dr. Martinez says you’re the size of a six to seven-month-old. She has instructed us to begin you on rice cereal because you are not getting enough with just formula. We are going through 1 1/2 cans per week. Once you get used to the cereal she said to start you on yellow and orange veggies. yay! Daddy and I cannot wait. We will be trying this for the first time tonight.
We love you peanut. Thank you for being our perfect angel.

family, friends and two baptisms

Yesterday was a very special day for my baby girl and I. During the 10 o’clock service at our church we were baptized side-by-side, I made a commitment to God and made the promise to bring our sweet baby girl up with him in our lives. Our family and friends were only aware that Payton would be baptized so it was a pleasant surprise when Pastor Bruce told the congregation that I too would be baptized with her. It was very emotional for me as I had to fight the tears as I looked down at my proud parents, a mother-in-law’s camera flashes of excitement and sweet smiles from our dear friends. After the service we had a brunch at our aunt and uncle’s house where everyone celebrated our new found commitment. I will never forget that moment and I cannot wait to tell Payton all about it over and over again as she grows.
Below is an overload of pictures!

Don’t you love her headband? It’s from babyK designs (etsy). Her shoes didn’t arrive in time, a little bummed but luckily Macy’s came through for me!

The cupcakes I baked with chocolate fondant crosses dusted with gold dust.

The Hubby and Uncle Al

Best friend Jerome, God Parents Travis and Suzanne, Aunt Kathy (in back) and best friend Jen.

Giggling like crazy afterwards.

The blanket that the church made and had prayer knots for the congregation to tie.

4 Months Old today!

muah! Love her face. I don’t know what I would do if I couldn’t kiss her daily.

Happy Easter

We hope that everyone had a great Easter Sunday. We had a very relaxing day! I got up early and started prepping all the side dishes for dinner and Jim did some gardening / clean-up with my Dad while we waited for my sister to arrive. When my sister arrived we had her three kiddos start their egg hunt and a few minutes later the 7.2 earthquake hit. It was a rolling earthquake, the kind I like. I am one of those weirdos that is amazed by earthquakes and rarely freaks out. I wasn’t indoors, rather standing underneath our patio cover and that creaked a little but you could really hear my crappy single-paned 1959 windows rattling. Jim was taken by surprise, not a native Californian, my Jersey boy still gets a little freaked by them. He said he was more worried about the baby, but luckily he had just taken her out of her crib moments prior to the quake. No damage was done to our house, but I am sure we will discover a few more cracks in the ceilings in a few days. Despite the earthquake, we had a gorgeous San Diego day, mildly windy, mid 70’s and were surrounded by family. We truly hope that you had a great Easter and somewhere in the midst of egg hunts, Easter ham, and handfuls of chocolate that you remembered the true message and meaning of Easter.

My fav pic of the day. I love my baby’s eyes. . .

Payton this morning with her basket complete with: 2 sleepers (one houndstooth print that I dying to put on her) a leap frog bear, baby legs a baby Einstein video)

Daddy and Pay

The baskets I made for my nieces, nephew and Payton. Calla Lilly’s from my parents.

She literally dove into her basket grabbing for her bear.

Then Delilah wanted in on the action and Payton wanted to grab her.

The cupcakes I made.

Our little family. Payton was not too happy at this moment as you can see.

Ethan and Makayla playing outside a little while after the quake.

Maddie showing off all the eggs she found.

My sister, Lindsay, helping Maddie find eggs.
OH! AND I ALMOST FORGOT!
My little 15-week-old baby girl rolled over six times in a row tonight. I only saw her do it twice, but it made my night. I screamed with happiness and then the waterworks began that I have to leave her tomorrow when I return to work. Please keep me in your thoughts tomorrow, I need all the strength I can get.

Pay-Pay got her Ear’s Pierced

and Daddy doesn’t technically know yet, oh! is Mommy gonna be in trouble. Auntie and I headed to the mall today to have lunch and we stopped by the jewelry store and decided to get it over with now. I know it’s a cultural thing so don’t judge me. My Mom had waited until we were old enough to make the decision and I had it done at the age of eight, I was mortified. Today, I was mortified as the gun went off because it was like me sitting in her position all over again. I know I made the right choice because she will not remember the pain, she literally cried as the earring entered her ear and then calmed right down. I am happy with them and how she handled it and will be more pleased once people stop asking if she is a boy. Plus, it’s just another accessory I can put on my beautiful baby.

The Before

The Deed is being done. . . I know she is crying but I still love her expression and could eat her up! Look at her lip.

The After

Pondering what her Auntie and Mommy just did to her

I was telling her as we were leaving the mall that this means she can accessorize more and she gave us this smile. Every woman loves to accessorize no matter what age!

I have to add that Jim and I have discussed getting her ears pierced and he agreed upon this decision, he just didn’t know I would do it today.

Lions, Flamingos and ‘Raffe’s. . .Oh My!

Today Payton and I took advantage of the gorgeous San Diego weather and headed to the wild animal park with our friends. What’s great about the wild animal park is that it is literally fifteen minutes from my house and now we have an annual membership so we can go walk the park or zoo whenever we want. It always amazes me how vast and beautiful the San Pasquel Valley is. Below are a few of my favorite pictures from the day.

My very happy baby. Don’t you just love her chubby cheeks and double chin.

Gorillas are always a favorite of mine and Jim’s. One of the first classes we took together as a couple was Anthropology and we had to do a Gorilla observation for three hours at the zoo. Seeing them always beings me back to the good ‘ole days of 2001.

I bought Payton and her friend Chloe matching ‘raffe’s to remember their first meeting and P’s first trip to the park. (Chloe is my dear friend Cassie’s niece. Her mama Kris and her are visiting from Washington state this week).

The last picture of the day. She was an angel all day. Love my sweet baby girl.
