My PB + J

update on the little miss

After yesterday’s nonsense of blood oozing from the mouth, a rash breaking out all over her abdomen and face I made a doctor’s appointment just to be safe. After looking her over and me going into detail about being concerned about her having blood in her mouth over the past week he looked in her mouth and said she has a viral mouth infection. She has sores on the back of her tongue and are most likely what are causing the blood, she has canker sores on the side of her cheek and tongue. I feel like the worst damn parent. I don’t even know where she could have gotten this, kids pick-up and touch the most disgusting things so it could have been contracted anywhere. The rash is a result of a fever, which everytime we checked her temp she was fine but apparently this is what caused the rash. Now we just have to wait it out and let the infection run it’s course. We just have to watch her to make sure she is taking in fluids, food and not having a hard time breathing. So far, so good. My poor baby!
Besides Payton and this little infection you would have no idea she is feeling under the weather. Everyday she says more words and has gotten into some two and three word phrases. She has been dancing and jumping like a crazy girl, chasing her doggy and expressing her attitude a little more each day. Like today for instance, I was unloading the dishwasher and it seemed to be a little silent so I stuck my head into her bedroom. I didn’t see her but I saw baby powder everywhere! I peeked my head in a little further trying to catch her red handed and what was she doing? The little booger was in her closet shaking the bottle of baby powder all in the box of toys stored inside. I said, “hi” in a really low voice and she turned slightly around and gave me the biggest grin and said “me funny”. It was actually kind of funny, so I explained how we shouldn’t make messes and that she would have to play in it for a minute so I could finish the kitchen. As I made my way back to her room I saw perfume and a coloring book being thrown from my dresser. I walked in there and she was taking her go-go-gadget arms and taking everything off of my dresser. Okay, she’s testing my limits. I remain calm, I told her to follow me to get the vacuum because she was going to help me clean up her mess, well once I started up the vacuum she started screaming so I began sweating my ass off cleaning up baby powder that was everywhere. Once I was done with that mess I heard beads hitting the hardwood and knew automatically she was in the dining room. She climbed up onto the table and grabbed a tube of beads I had for the headbands I was making and she was throwing the beads all over the floor. Getting mad now. I freaked out actually, I am sure there was a moment my neighbors thought about calling CPS because I was yelling so badly. Payton of course took off as I cleaned up mess #3 and as I made it through the kitchen to the living room I peered down and saw her sippy cup and water all over the floor. I didn’t even say anything I just picked up the phone and text to Jim to get home because I was a hot mess and I knew P was just trying to test her limits. I told her to go to her room for a time out and she got up on her bed and cried. I had all four messes cleaned up and then we went and had a conversation. She just looked at me and said, “okay”. This little being while she truly tested her limits today is really growing into a little girl. It is so much fun each day with how much she comprehends and expresses, while I used to be super scared about having two children under two, while only for a month I know she is going to be a great big sister because she is growing up so much! Even if she does give me heart attacks with her messes it’s just apart of her growing into her little self.

Asking me “why?” as I took the powder away.
This picture is kind of creepy looking, she looks like she has a disease because of the chalkiness. You can kind of see the red splotches.

21-Month Stats: (I don’t know percentiles since it wasn’t a well-baby check-up)

39.5″
27 pounds
size 5 diapers
18-2T clothing
Size 7 shoes

Vocabulary: She articulates very well which has been helpful in understanding her. While I thought her vocab was smaller I guess she does say a lot of words. While I might be missing some, I think it’s safe to say we can communicate on most days.

teething nightmare

When Peanut was getting her mouthful of teeth I never remembered it to be this bad. Maybe because she was so little and she would just sleep through her whines but now with her boost in vocals, attitude, etc. I just feel so badly and helpless for her. We have made the transition into her big girl bed, she is napping and  starts off nighttime in there and then by 3 am she is screaming bloody murder because her mouth is hurting her so badly. Last night when she came into our room she was shaking in pain and only wanted me. I tried consoling her and finally she would fall asleep but as soon as I would try and move because my hip was throbbing she would wake back up and freak out all over again. On another side to all of this we have been pacifier free for six days so my poor baby is going through hell. I actually threw the pacifier away yesterday so there is no turning back, not that she wants it because she hasn’t shown any signs of wanting it, I just know it comforts her and my sanity when she is whiny. Today when I met an old employee for lunch I noticed she had a rash all over her face, then I looked at her back and tummy and she had spots everywhere. I have made an appointment for tomorrow but, really??! Can’t this kid catch a break? I mean to wake-up to a bloody-drooled on pillow has to be bad. Oh! The joys of being a parent. On a happy note, at least this is all happening before the baby arrives, right?

Update: When she woke-up from naptime, she came out looking for me with blood dripping from her mouth, I wiped it quickly and then more was flowing from her mouth. arg! Why are two-year molars the worse?!

a wwyd post

Last week I went in for another 4D ultrasound and during that visit I had planned on asking Dr. Pacquiado her November schedule to have her deliver the baby. Well, when she walked in she had papers in her hand and had all ready booked my little man’s eviction date. When she handed me the papers I immediately said, “no”. You see, this entire pregnancy I have had my mind set on his birthdate being November 1st, or rather, All Saints Day. I figured since a lot of things during this pregnancy have not gone in my favor I would at least choose my son’s birthdate, isn’t that a benefit of having a repeat c-section anyway? Well, that date on that piece of paper has me down for November 2nd at 8:00 am. When I pretty much told her no, that I had wanted the first she pretty much told me that my only option is to come in on Halloween for another amnio and then I could have the first. Am I being totally unreasonable? Or, would you go with your gut and go for the birth date that you have envisioned during your entire pregnancy? I still have some time to let her know, she wanted me to discuss this with the hubby and to my dismay he agreed to go forward with it.

So, my dear readers, I am asking for a yay or nay on what you would do and opinions are welcomed.

holiday clip preview

The day after Labor Day always brings on the saying, “it’s starting to feel like Fall”. Even though we still have a few weeks until it’s technically Fall the kids are all going back to school, Halloween decorations are out to sell, Starbucks pumpkin spice latte is officially available today and we start brainstorming what the holidays will have in store for us this year. For me, I have been thinking of Fall since the first day of Winter last year but that’s only because it’s my favorite time of year. I have a post coming that lists what I love about Autumn but for now I wanted to give you a preview of my holiday clip collection that is now up in my Etsy store. I have some additional things I am working on, especially since I am selling at an open house in two weeks I have been a busy bee preparing for that. So keep your eyes posted on my store if your looking for cute holiday accessories for your little loves.

big girl bed & sleep training round two

Ever since we had to live in a hotel room Payton refused to sleep in the pack ‘n play and started sleeping with us. She had been in her crib since she was four months so this was a major adjustment for the hubs and I, especially with the lack of room with my growing belly. We have been back in our house for over a month and she is still in our bed. We tried tricking her into sleeping her in the crib and she would scream bloody murder until we took her out. We decided that it was time for a big girl bed so we went out on the hunt for a mattress that didn’t break our bank and some bedding. We had some set backs with her convertible crib and after everything we were only able to use the headboard. Most of the boxes that were in her room have been unpacked and we are finding ourselves trying to think of ways to reuse most of the black damask that was in her room before, rather, projects for me on refinishing and covering all things black to make things white and more girly. Now that there is at least a bed in her room we need to get her to sleep in her bed on a regular basis. She went down for a nap in there on Friday and stayed in there for three hours so I do have hope, it’s just how do we get her to fall asleep on her own again? It was a lot less painful when we put down a four-month-old who would scream for tops ten minutes but now she can do some marathon screaming that lasts about an hour. What did you do you to get your toddler to sleep in a big girl/boy bed? Did you shut the door, put a gate up? I am looking for all advice and suggestions on how to get a child to sleep in a big bed, the clock is winding down, t-minus eight weeks…
Last week when we put her bed together she was so excited to wake-up from her nap to find a big girl bed in her room. She kept jumping up and down with excitement, I know she understands what’s going on especially since there’s a baby coming. See her excitement for yourself, and please ignore my half naked baby, empty boxes and my annoying voice…thanks!
