My PB + J

honored.

there’s just something about weddings that make me giddy. if i could pick my dream job it would be a professional wedding/party planner. i have only been a day-of planner for one wedding, it was a tough job, plus i was in my first trimester with payton. i always feel honored when people choose me to bake for their special occasions but i feel even more honored when someone chooses me as their wedding baker. i have done five weddings and i have a tasting this sunday for a potential august wedding. this past sunday, yes, mother’s day, i baked for my hair stylist. it was a bit chaotic because we were knee deep into the move and had originally planned on baking at the old house but when the workers were in my way i opted to bake at the new place. thankfully, everything went as planned except for a minor mishap with the brownie pops, which in the end made the dessert table pop, no pun intended. i am thankful that the hubby was able to whip up my cake pop stands just in time and for my mom who spent her mother’s day watching the kids and me stress out, but then again, what’s unusual about me freaking out?

speaking of mother’s day, i didn’t get much of one. i spent the day slightly melancholy, i picked up my own starbucks when i made a 7 am grocery store run and then busted out all the cupcakes/cake. i was sad that jim and payton never really said happy mother’s day, but i just kept telling myself it’s a hallmark holiday and i am reminded everyday how lucky i am. around 9 pm i did finally get a random “happy mother’s day, mommy” from payton as she stood in brayden’s s room. i of course squealed and started crying because it was the first time she had ever said that phrase. i am thankful for my little family, for my mother who loves me unconditionally and deals with me calling her for any damn reason and my sister who is one hell of a mother to my nieces and nephew.

saturday night we did meet in murrieta for a pre-mother’s day dinner.

the spread: a 6″ top tiered cake, 130 cupcakes (red velvet and devils food), 50 brownie pops and 50 chocolate chip cookies. the candy was provided by the bride, i just set it up. the table was a tad crammed but the only table provided.

the candy choices were: sour straws, wax bottles and gummy bears. if you’re planning an event go for candy that means something or matches your theme. the guests of this wedding only really ate the gummy bears.

legoland, in-laws and margaritas

two weeks ago while my in-laws were in town visiting from new jersey we made it up to carlsbad to visit legoland. i had won a four pack of tickets on SDMOMfia’s anniversary giveaway at the end of the year and knew i would save the tickets for their trip. the day was great once i got over being cranky. payton loved every moment of it and is still asking to go back. during the week they were here we ate mexican food for nearly every meal, which like previously stated i did not mind. jim had actually taken off the entire week as well so we were in vacay mode while closing escrow, etc.. so a few (ten) margaritas were enjoyed. on cinco de mayo we went to all our fav’s, casa de pico, probably some of the best mexican food in san diego. we have many memories at their previous location in old town but now that they moved into the grossmont centre we plan on making many more there. we capped off the week with a session at la jolla’s windansea beach for my mother in-laws mother’s day present. as always, the week flew by, tears were shed when they left and the saying of, “pizza!…french fry…apple pie…CHEESEBURGER!” is still being said amongst all of us. we cannot wait for them to come back, hopefully sooner than two years!

look, it’s r2-d2!

there’s no place like home {link-up}

as you all know we have been in the process of moving into our second home but while we have been moving we have also been under a small face lift on our first home in order to place it on the market by tonight. we had all new landscaping, a new garage door and interior doors done (on top of what we did last year: new wood flooring, re-pipe, wall texture and bye-bye popcorn ceilings). our “old” house now looks even more charming and makes me wish we had the landscaping professionally done years ago. but we have moved on and into a home that we plan on staying in forever. i want to take you on a guided empty house tour, even though the walls are now stacked with boxes and we are slowly beginning to brainstorm our mark on the house it’s going to take time, a lot of time. we moved from a 1250 sq. ft house to a 2900 sq. ft house on a half acre, it’s just plain nutty i tell you. my head is still spinning and i am sure it will take some time before i realize it’s really ours but for now i will continue to thank our lucky stars for how truly blessed we are.

we got our keys on the 2nd.
the drive down our street, we are at the end.
our house!

the pool and only a smidgen of the backyard. it will be a very large project before brayden’s 1st birthday.

the kitchen, there are double ovens, a nook and refrigerator to the left.

standing in the family room looking towards the front door. i forgot to take a pic of the family room and our room.

standing in the dining room looking towards the living room.

right as you walk into the house. the doors straight ahead open into the sun room, aka the playroom.

master bathroom.
the existing office, this furniture the owners left will get moved into the garage and our desk will go here along with our old bed.

laundry room, the most exciting part! i won’t have to go into the scary garage anymore!

brayden’s room, i forgot to snap a pic of payton’s.
kids bathroom.

sun room.

side of house.

the coolest thing about the house is that the back fence has two gates, one of which opens directly into our aunt and uncle’s driveway.
i look forward to sharing the house transformation as we make our mark on our forever house.

it’s a weekly thang {weigh-in wednesday}

i haven’t posted about my weight loss journey since april 25th, well, again, i haven’t really posted anything in almost three weeks. we had my in-laws here for a week, i ate badly, like really badly. since they’re from new jersey and lack good mexican food we literally ate mexican food everyday paired with margaritas, which doesn’t bother me but cheese, rice and beans aren’t really on the plan. after they left we went into moving mode which translated into burgers, pizza and whatever else i could shove in my mouth to deal with stress. i did sneak in a healthy salad at nordies and the last two days for lunch. my stomach is feeling it and it’s noticeably so. now that the dust is starting to settle we will begin making home cooked meals this weekend once i get my kitchen unpacked. i have just over a month to meet goal #2 for vegas, which means that i finally met GOAL #1 TODAY! can i do it? we shall see. . .

monday phone dump {link-up party}

i am posting as fast as i can just so you know i am still alive. i know, i know…i said the same exact thing last tuesday but life is insane crazy right now. on tuesday just minutes after posting the five workers who spent time through today working on our old house arrived to begin the improvements before placing our house on the market, it goes live wednesday. on top of five randoms in our house we were moving everything out day-by-day and then friday we got a uhaul and slept in our new home that evening. we’re trying to make it work for now especially since our concentration is on our old house. on top of all the moving chaos i had a wedding order on mother’s day. i am looking forward to this week to hopefully get back into a routine since it’s been two weeks since the kids and i have been on one. plus, my body is in shock from not making it to the gym and eating like crap. here’s a glimpse of the last week.
* the front of our old house with new landscaping, newly painted trim and a new garage door.
* my gnomes having a conversation about the destruction of their gnome forest. in time my dear gnomes you will have a new forest.
* this morning the bradykins and i snuggling.
* brady happily playing in his jumpy.
* saturday evening we met up with my parents and my sister’s family to celebrate mother’s day.
* this was tuesday morning. let’s just say my house was a muddy mess.

a glimpse of my wedding order i had yesterday: 130 cupcakes, 50 cake pops, 50 chocolate chip cookies and a cake. i am in love with how it came out!

now go link up with these fun photo parties!
