My PB + J

housewives recap {rhoc}

heather: i cannot wait for next week to see her party. that cake was a hot mess. did the baker misunderstand her party for a sweet sixteen? i totally saw her vision.

gretchen: first of all, if you found the text in your boyfriends phone about a possible ring would you confront him? i actually feel badly for slade. yes, folks you read it here first. i finally feel for slade.

tamra: this entire episode was, is he going to propose, or isn’t he? i swear they could’ve cut thirty minutes out of the guessing and showed other things. at least she reacted sincerely, i actually got choked up, okay, slightly.  the vacay was definitely a dream vacay. i dream of bora bora waters.

vicki:  don’t even get me started on brooks’ new teeth. $15k?!?! vicki i pray for your sake you stay together and prove everyone wrong. and a fur? goodness gracious. again, don’t me started.

alexis: thank you bravo gods for cutting alexis’ appearance to a long minute and thirty seconds. that’s all. i am one happy real housewives viewer due to your gift this week.

chunky monkey pie

  • last week i mentioned that i made a chunky monkey pie for our sunday barbeque. this pie was inspired by our best bites. what’s better than: honey roasted peanut butter, fresh bananas, oreo crust and fresh whipped cream? this flavor combo is actually one of my favs and i usually get the fix when we dine at the corvette diner in the form of the elvis shake. i had the intentions on following the recipe 100% but i didn’t read the step that said combine pudding mix and water, i had already combined the mix and two cups of milk. oops! i followed the recipe after that skipping the condensed milk. it still came out fab, i believe the missed step would have made the pie a little less jiggly but nobody noticed and it tasted like a pillowy dream of bananas, peanut butter and fluffy whipped cream. if you’re throwing a summer get together and need something quick i highly recommend this pie, it seriously took me less than ten minutes. get on it people!

monday phone dump: fair edition {link-up party}

when the fair comes to town it officially feels like my birthday and summer. we usually head to the fair with my entire family to celebrate fathers day/my b-day; but this year we decided to change it up and make it to opening day since it looked as though our father’s day tradition would not be occurring this year. i love the fair, i love the carnies, i love the horribly fried food and i love making memories each year. it reminds me of my childhood and now seeing the excitement in payton just warms my heart. we met uncle al and aunt kathy there and quickly began taking payton from ride-to-ride, ran to decorate frisbees, rode an elephant, a pony, held “swifty” the pot-bellied swine, played a few games, ate a lot of food, listened to cobra starship in the tunnel and walked the fair over and over again. it was one of those evenings where i thanked jim for making me a mommy because i had a smile from ear-to-ear watching our family.
do you go to the fair? what’s your fav thing about it? or, your fav food to eat?
make sure to follow me via instagram.

 i am linking up with what makes savanah smile and a night owl blog

riding “becky” the elephant.

my boys while looking at the livestock.

here’s a small glimpse of the food we ate, there were four adults and we all kept randomly purchasing food items. my fav’s were the fried cheese curds (for the second year in a row), the red velvet funnel cake and the cinnamon roll, which i was craving all day. yesterday al and kathy admitted that i was the first person ever to be the instigator of food for al. i would point something out and he would get it. it was so much fun.

miss p and the yumminess she had going on.

it was bittersweet seeing payton riding rides by herself. she is growing up so fast! as we were leaving the fair payton finally conked out and brayden was all smiles. aunt kathy purchased payton an LED bubble gun and jim couldn’t wait to try it out when we got home.

our happy little fam.
riding ruby. suz, we have another horse lover on our hands.

goodbye san diego fair.

on instagram peeps were asking me if we in fact ate all the food. no, we did not and we mostly shared between all of us and if we didn’t care for it, the trash it went. here’s a breakdown of what we ate/shared:
lobster roll (new to the fair this year, in kiddie land)
colossal corn dog – maybe five bites. the hot dog was gross. go for the smaller dogs or even better yet, the sweet potato corn dog.
fried spam – al took one bite and the trash it went.
deep fried jalapeño stuffed with baby ruth served on a bed of churros – amazeballs. seriously.
red velvet funnel cake – new this year. get it. thank me later. heck, take one home.
fire roasted corn – a tradition.
sweet potato fries
fried cheese curds – my #1 second year in a row hands town. make sure to add tapatîo.
veggie dog
cinnamon rolls – i saved calories all day for this.
cotton candy
i swear there was probably more but for the second year i didn’t get my fried snickers. we might have to go back once more on “taste of” day. gah! such a great evening.

housewives recap {rhoc}

i have been receiving several e-mails over the past few weeks asking why i haven’t been doing my recaps. it’s not that i stopped watching the show, it’s that i have been watching them after wednesday and i figured nobody really read them except for my mom, sister and janelle. well, i am back for this week. btw, did any of you watch new york on monday? gosh. it was boring. i turned it off and went back to it yesterday. new ladies are obnoxious and quite frankly, odd looking. um, heather (the new york heather) was clearly a child of sucking on a binky until grammar school. god, i could go on forever about that train wreck, new york used to be so good.

heather: on her name change, i thought it was great that she finally did it, i think that her married name sounds much more professional and i loved terry’s reaction. heather remains to stay legit. she is funny and wise and um, hello, real. again, week after week i am still loving her. i loved how she approached alexis the next morning to see if she was okay and to explain herself.

gretchen: when she went to therapy with slade i felt so badly for her. maybe it’s because i follow her via all social media outlets and i see the lovey dovey pics of her and slade but it seems like she is unhappy but maybe that’s just for tv? if he hasn’t figure out his money issues, will he ever? i like the gretchen that’s coming out, being honest and not flipping out every five seconds on tamra. when tamra, gretchen and vicki were at lunch it seemed like everything was okay, which was great FINALLY!

tamra: first, she looked fab when she met alexis for drinks. the only thing i can say about costa rica is wow. way to confront alexis. i loved how they were about to go rafting and they all show up in their lulelemon acting like they didn’t know they were going to get wet.

vicki:  brianna’s engagement party made me see a different side to vicki, not that i didn’t already know she was all about her but brooks is off his rocker, or is he on it? he’s playing the vicki game. in costa rica she goes slightly off her rocker when their planting the trees. then, the melodramatic nonsense while rafting and being upset about the matchy-matchy outfits. i can’t even go into the whole don, kids, regretting divorce stuff. just get back with don.

alexis: i wish i could say that alexis still doesn’t bother me but i cannot. costa rica was a train wreck as was the twins’ birthday party. i am, however, starting to feel sorry for her because she acts the way she does to keep up with the OC standards and because of her douche bag husband.

and because i never shared…memorial day weekend janelle and i headed to la jolla to meet crazy herself. yes, we spent money on her cookbook, we said hi, and of course she loved the guidette family in front of us and cared less about us california girls, or maybe it’s because my name is melissa?

windansea beach

last month when my in-laws were visiting from new jersey we surprised my mother-in-law, julie, with a family photography session as her mother’s day present. i was lucky enough to have snagged a great deal from living social with jana morgan photography. i picked la jolla’s windansea beach for the location and despite the overcast weather and the kids not napping the entire day it was a lot of fun. it is definetly something we can all look back on to remember this great vacation!
