My PB + J

Two Months

Dear Payton,

This week we are celebrating your two month mark. It’s hard to believe that you are already two months, where is the time slipping away to? Before we know it you will be crawling and I will be returning back to work. You have had a very exciting month! Your personality is really starting to show, though you are still our content little girl you sure love to talk to us, kicking your legs and pumping your arms as fast as you can as you follow us around the room. Speaking of pumping your arms, I have to apologize, I was not present to protect my sweet baby from your New Jersey relatives but while you were visiting Uncle Al, Grandpa Sven and Grandma Toni they taught you how to fist pump, I am deeply sorry, but you loved it and kept going with it. Daddy thought it was funny and added in his “untz, untz, untz” sounds to your pumping arms. I told them that you were a California girl and they shouldn’t try and corrupt you this early, luckily, you will not remember this. You are sleeping through the night and we cannot thank you enough for this. You will typically go to sleep around 11 pm and will sleep until 6 am. I know you should be going to sleep a little earlier but you tend to take later naps so we have to wake you up at 11 to feed you and then we go to sleep as a family. You are still sleeping in our bed but this will be coming to an end as soon as we are comfortable knowing that you will not suffocate yourself as you love to sleep on your tummy. You are lifting your head nicely and you are getting your crawling moves down. When we visited Dr. Martinez for your wellness visit she said that you’re a very strong baby in between all the oohh’s and ahh’s she gave me. She thinks you are a gorgeous baby and honestly everyone that sees you cannot get over have pretty you are. Daddy now understands why other Daddy’s own guns. It has been a great month watching you grow, we have gotten a little routine down and we are feeling more like a family.
  • At your wellness visit you weighed 10 pounds 15 ounces – 75th percentile and you were 23 inches long 90th percentile.
  • You received your first round of shots. You were fine for about six hours and then you were cranky. The following day you were awake for about three hours total for the day (thank you, we finally got to start cleaning out the office).
  • You are still drinking 4 ounces but sometimes you want 6 ounces.
  • You have discovered your right hand, we’ll see if you start sucking your thumb but for now you suck on your entire hand.
We cannot stop gushing over you. You have brightened our lives and strengthened our marriage. We love you Pay-Pay.
xoxo-
Mommy and Daddy

Happy 100th Birthday Grandma!

Grandma, today you would have celebrated your 100th birthday. I would have loved to have seen you make it to such a milestone but you have been gone for nine years now. There isn’t a day where I do not think about you and all the memories we shared. I often bake your oriole chocolate cake to slip back into my childhood to remember all of the birthday celebrations when you baked my favorite cake. I crave the way you baked your cake, only wishing mine tasted as good. Today, I will think of you more often and will plant another gardenia in your loving memory.

I miss you more than you know. Happy 100th Birthday.

This was taken the day after my Junior Prom on Mother’s Day, 1999.

What fills your heart with love?

I am thankful for everything that fills my heart with love, of course, there are many other things that keep this heart of mine fluttering. However, these are some that come straight to my mind. . .

our adopted fur baby, delilah. we have had her for over a year and couldn’t imagine life without her. even if she does love to eat my yoga pants and steal my food now and again.

I love being a mommy. If a day isn’t going that great I just have to look at my precious babe to brighten my day. She is my heart.

My family. Though at times we get on each other’s last nerve, we do it because we love one another, I wouldn’t trade this family for the world.

Cupcakes. What isn’t there to love? Just seeing them complete after baking and piping puts a huge smile on my face and a few extra pounds on my thighs. 😉

Every girl needs a great circle of friends. Friends stick by you through the good and the bad, those who haven’t experienced this are missing out on one of life’s greatest joys.

Here just dating and my first trip to NYC back in 2002. I left a part of my heart in that city and for that matter on that coast, but kept the best thing about the east having kept him here with me in the west for nine years now.

My sister’s love. I don’t tell her I love her enough. Sissy, I love you. I have never stopped and never will. Besides Jim you are my better half and we don’t even need to speak to understand one another. I thank you for my making me an auntie x 3

Who dat?

If your like me today you might be chanting, “Who dat? Who dat? Who dat say dey gunna beat dem Saints?” I cannot begin to express how happy I am that our former QB Drew Brees got a super bowl title yesterday. Most San Diegans are still tinged with bitterness towards the Charger organization for letting go of Brees back in 2006, but overjoyed today that AJ Smith was wrong when he stated that Brees would never be one to have this prestigious title under his belt. Though the game was simply amazing, and yes, Payton Manning I still love you, the ads were not as fun as they have been in the past. At each commercial break I had hoped for an amazing commercial, but sadly, the only commercial I laughed at was the one with Oprah, Letterman and Leno and it wasn’t even that funny. Maybe I just didn’t have a sense of humor yesterday!?

We spent the last game over at the Schack’s where a “simple” party ended up being about fifteen to twenty people. We all ate Phyllis’ yummy lasagna, meatballs, brochole, cheese cups (I had about ten) and ricotta cookies. As always it was amazingly good and nobody was complaining about being hungry. I didn’t get a chance to bake any cupcakes this weekend for the event but I plan on baking enough this week to test different Valentines Day decorations.

Don’t you love Payton’s little onesie? I am so happy my envision came to fruition!
