My PB + J

Flab-Flab, Go Away {Friday’s}

With another Friday down that means another weigh-in. I have been pretty conscience

about what I am consuming even with returning to work this week I was a little hesitant about giving into cravings. I am the General Manager of a restaurant after all! I will say that I did very well while at work, only eating there once ordering a half Cobb salad, not bad, right? With my Mom being here, I wanted to go out for dinner, I was not about to make dinner after my emotional first two days back. The first day we all went to Pei Wei because I had a craving for their lettuce wraps and pad Thai. . .so yummy! Tuesday my Momma wanted to go to Claim Jumper so of course we did and I gave into yet another craving and had a Frisco burger, oh what?! Yes! I sure did. Basically, what all this alludes to is that I am a HUGE emotional eater, so I wasn’t expecting to lose any weight, but guess what? I DID! And 1.8 pounds at that. I was shocked. I literally let out a yelp when I saw that I am now under 160 pounds {pats self on back}. This brings my total weight loss to 40 pounds. I know some of that was baby and all that goes with carry a baby but who cares, I was after all 199 pounds when I gave birth and now I weigh 159. I only have 12 pounds to go to get to my first preggo appointment weight. YAY! I know I can do this, and I have been. With life as hectic as it is being a mom, a wife, and a daughter demands are high but somehow I have managed to get this far. I am more motivated today than ever to get to my first goal weight of 147.

Tonight I am heading to my first spin class with my friend Jinger. I am really excited because we live minutes a part but I have only seen her while doing a wig pub crawl or Vegas trips. She has two other ladies coming, one who has a three-month-old, which makes me happy to meet other mommy’s who live close. God knows I need more mommy friends close to me.
Here is what I ate this week (if you care) You might gasp when you see what I ate, I know it’s not that great, but let’s be real here. I also make sure to drink plenty of water and I am happy to report I have not had any soda or carbonated beverages in over 7 weeks
{another pat on back}.

Monday:
Yogurt w/granola
iced tall skinny vanilla latte
uncrustables sandwich
lettuce wraps, veggie pad Thai
and maybe a few pieces of Easter candy

Tuesday:
Cereal
iced tall skinny vanilla latte
half Cobb salad
Frisco burger
cadbury egg

Wednesday:
Nordies Cafe 1/2 turkey sand, mixed greens and tomato soup
Wahoo’s fish taco
Easter candy

Thursday:
Yogurt with granola and blackberries
uncrustables sandwich
a few lemon shortbread cookies
robek’s smoothie
iced grande skinny vanilla latte
chicken taco/bean & cheese burrito

Friday:
Cereal
hmm…dinner, what to make!?

survival of days one & two

Well ladies, I made it through days one and two of work. We all know I would make it, because it’s not like I am the first momma to head back to work but we all share our own battles with leaving our beautiful babes behind. When I left for work on Monday, I said my good-byes and ran out the door, only to make it a few steps off my doorstep before the water works began. I started my car, turned on the windshield wipers and wished I was bundled up under my brown throw with my baby in my lap rather than heading to work wearing too tight non-preggo slacks and a frumpy sweater. When I got to work it was like, well, Melissa is back so let’s throw it all back on her, she is of course our general manager. My head was pretty much spinning all day, trying to take in all that I had tried to forget while out for four months but sadly, it all came back to me like riding a bike. My biggest fear of the day was seeing employees of mine that I had “issues” with prior to my maternity leave but I decided the best way to alleviate my stress was to squash it immediately and show them how emotionally stressed I was with returning back to work. Who knows if it was effective but I feel a whole lot better! With all this said, leaving today was a lot easier, the day went by faster and when I came home my happy baby was waiting for me in Grandma’s arms. I cannot thank you all enough for your support through your comments here and on FB. I know as the days go on, everything will get easier but I am not one for change and this is a huge change.

I also cannot thank my Mommy enough for staying with us since Saturday, one for the holiday and now to watch Payton every Monday and Tuesday. I know it’s a huge sacrifice to drive down from Running Springs and to be away from my Dad each week, so thank you, thank you, thank you MOM! We love you and we’re sorry our house isn’t a little bit bigger!

Happy Easter

We hope that everyone had a great Easter Sunday. We had a very relaxing day! I got up early and started prepping all the side dishes for dinner and Jim did some gardening / clean-up with my Dad while we waited for my sister to arrive. When my sister arrived we had her three kiddos start their egg hunt and a few minutes later the 7.2 earthquake hit. It was a rolling earthquake, the kind I like. I am one of those weirdos that is amazed by earthquakes and rarely freaks out. I wasn’t indoors, rather standing underneath our patio cover and that creaked a little but you could really hear my crappy single-paned 1959 windows rattling. Jim was taken by surprise, not a native Californian, my Jersey boy still gets a little freaked by them. He said he was more worried about the baby, but luckily he had just taken her out of her crib moments prior to the quake. No damage was done to our house, but I am sure we will discover a few more cracks in the ceilings in a few days. Despite the earthquake, we had a gorgeous San Diego day, mildly windy, mid 70’s and were surrounded by family. We truly hope that you had a great Easter and somewhere in the midst of egg hunts, Easter ham, and handfuls of chocolate that you remembered the true message and meaning of Easter.

My fav pic of the day. I love my baby’s eyes. . .

Payton this morning with her basket complete with: 2 sleepers (one houndstooth print that I dying to put on her) a leap frog bear, baby legs a baby Einstein video)

Daddy and Pay

The baskets I made for my nieces, nephew and Payton. Calla Lilly’s from my parents.

She literally dove into her basket grabbing for her bear.

Then Delilah wanted in on the action and Payton wanted to grab her.

The cupcakes I made.

Our little family. Payton was not too happy at this moment as you can see.

Ethan and Makayla playing outside a little while after the quake.

Maddie showing off all the eggs she found.

My sister, Lindsay, helping Maddie find eggs.
OH! AND I ALMOST FORGOT!
My little 15-week-old baby girl rolled over six times in a row tonight. I only saw her do it twice, but it made my night. I screamed with happiness and then the waterworks began that I have to leave her tomorrow when I return to work. Please keep me in your thoughts tomorrow, I need all the strength I can get.

Flab-Flab, Go Away {Friday’s}

I realize that I am a few weeks behind with giving ya’ll an update on my weight loss. It’s going to be short and sweet tonight since I still have last minute things to get ready for tomorrow so here we go:

Last week: Weight loss was the same. 🙁
This week: 160 pounds, down 2.2 pounds since last week. YIPPEE! This brings my total weight loss to 10 pounds. I have 14 to go to my pre–preggo weight (well, my weight as of my first OB/GYN pre-natal appointment) and then another 8 pounds or so to go by June. I am very satisfied but I still have a long, long journey to go. But I am going to do it!
BMI: 25.83
We’ll see how the first week back at work affects my weight loss. :/
Happy Easter Pretty, Pretty Readers!
