Trolls World Tour: At-Home Movie Premier

If you’re feeling like us right now you’re pretty bummed that you cannot head to the theaters this Friday to catch the highly anticipated debut of, Trolls World Tour. Luckily for us, it’s being released this Friday On-Demand. We’ve also been listening to the soundtrack, which is available now on iTunes. Our favorite for the past month has been “The Other Side”, the fun rendition of “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” but it’s “Trolls Wanna Have Good Times” and our fav, “Crazy Train”. This film has been on our to-watch list and to be honest, we wouldn’t turn down a film or song with JT in it because it’s always shiny, sparkling magic, despite the Branch demeanor. 🙂

Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake return in Trolls World Tour, an all-star sequel to DreamWorks Animation’s 2016 musical hit. In an adventure that will take them well beyond what they’ve known before, Poppy (Kendrick) and Branch (Timberlake) discover that they are but one of six different Trolls tribes scattered over six different lands and devoted to six different kinds of music: Funk, Country, Techno, Classical, Pop and Rock. Their world is about to get a lot bigger and a whole lot louder.

A member of hard-rock royalty, Queen Barb (Rachel Bloom), aided by her father King Thrash (Ozzy Osbourne), wants to destroy all other kinds of music to let rock reign supreme. With the fate of the world at stake, Poppy and Branch, along with their friends — Biggie (James Corden), Chenille (Caroline Hjelt), Satin (Aino Jawo), Cooper (Ron Funches) and Guy Diamond (Kunal Nayyar) — set out to visit all the other lands to unify the Trolls in harmony against Barb, who’s looking to upstage them all.

Since we are all homebodies these days, it would be super fun to throw a movie premier right at home! During the day you could learn how to draw Tiny Diamond, Poppy or Branch. There’s also an awesome Party Pack here that has awesome party details: Trolls recipes, coloring pages, sheet music, decorations, concert wristbands, scavenger hunt for that afternoon walk, props, etc. Make this Friday something fun for the entire fam. If the soundtrack is this good we cannot wait to see it in action. Check out my IG on Friday for how we’re throwing our Trolls World Tour party.

Download here and print the entire party pack at home.

If you guys have been following me you know that we have been painting our main living spaces. This project has been overwhelming and I found myself staring into Payton’s room. Her room has always been one of my favorite places. It’s the brightest room in the house, it has the comfiest bed that she will probably never sleep in and it really is just a happy, calm place for her (or I) to go to. She’s turning seven in December and it was really time to transition some of the baby items out of her room. The large display of hair bows needed to go. I thought a positive, cheerful photo corner using greeting cards would be an awesome addition to our growing girls room.

I am a greeting card lover. I tend to stroll the aisles and pick-up beautifully crafted cards with meaningful messages to give to girlfriends and family. When I saw the Taylor Swift inspired Papyrus collection, I knew that I could create an inspirational photo wall using the gorgeously embellished cards exclusively available at Target. I just loved the messages; some quirky, some sweet and sassy. The designs were even cuter and the embellishments were spot on in Papyrus fashion. There were so many to choose from but I picked out four to take home…for now.

Have you guys been to Target lately? I make a few trips a week and new stuff pops up all the time. I am particularly loving the unfinished wood craft section. I found unfinished wood signs that I knew I could stain and distress. I added antiqued photo clips to the boards and I finished them off with photos and a few cards from the the Papyrus Taylor Swift collection. Papyrus is a social expressions company, which is perfect for this project because I want Payton to always express herself however she want. Plus, I just really love their cards! 😉

For creating the look, I wanted the unfinished boards to look like distressed wood. I placed screws in a plastic bag and hit the boards over and over again. The bags will get holes so you will have to switch the bags out. I also scored the wood with a screw driver to add some lines. I applied the stain with a cloth and let it dry for 30 minutes. Then, with an electric sander fitted with fine sand paper I sanded the boards until I achieved the look I was going for. I painted on some acrylic white paint and Payton helped out. This was key for this project. As much as I wanted it all to be a surprise, having her help out made this transition easier. She doesn’t like change so having her add a touch to her space made it more special. Once the white paint dried I sanded the wood again until I was happy with the look. I went back over it two days later because I wanted it even lighter.

Once the boards were finished, I placed the cards and photos on to see how to place the antiqued photo clips. You can adhere these with some finishing screws. We then measured her wall and marked the hooks on the back the boards. I added three wooden arrows I also found at Target near the wood signs.

Payton’s first concert was Taylor Swift. I chose a picture with us before the concert, some with her brother and some with her girlfriends. The addition of the positive, flawless cards made the space special. I always want my girl to live loud and to live beautifully.

There are 44 exclusive cards in the collection so there is something for everyone and for every project! The back of the card has a number so you can collect them all! This collection is only available at Target so next time you’re there, check it out!

A Nutcracker, Sugarplum Fairy Celebration

Last month my sweet Payton turned six on the eighteenth of December. To celebrate her big day we invited all her girlfriends from school to swirl around in fluffy pink tutus to the dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. When I was day dreaming of the party I saw lots of sweet pastel candy, cotton candy colored tutus, butterfly wings and silvery white Nutcrackers all around. We held the party at our home, we setup the table up outside because we were lucky enough to miss the rain by a few hours.  The food was simple: fruit, fairy bread, sandwiches and pink lemonade. I baked the barbie cake and cupcakes. We had a special visit from the Sugar Plum Fairy who performed for everyone and then taught a one-hour class and gave glittery tattoos to all the girls. It was truly magical!

Backyard Movie Night #goodnightsnack #cbias

backyard movie night

If there’s something I look forward to every Summer it’s having all of our family visit. My nieces and nephew live forty-five minutes North of us, and with their busy schedules we rarely see them during the school year. It’s nice during the Summer months to have them down overnight to go swimming all day, which for them literally means all.day.long! Meal time usually translates into snacking all day, an early dinner (if they eat) and then all the kids are asking me what there is to snack on before bed. I know it’s silly, but I want my nieces, nephew and even my own kids to look back on these memories with their forever friends and remember how special these warm Summer nights mean. During this overnighter I wanted to throw the kids an outdoor movie night with plenty of fun good night snacks. I found inspiration during my last shopping trip to Walmart when I noticed night time themed boxes of Kellogg’s cereal. If there’s one thing my kids will eat it’s cereal, so why not take the cereal out of the bowl and create some fun snacks for our first outdoor movie.

As I perused the aisles I quickly determined that I could make an ultimate ice cream bar, fresh Krave popcorn, cereal sugar cookies and Froot Loop cupcakes.

{If you’re looking for the night time themed boxes, you can find them on an end cap or on the regular cereal aisle}

If you want to throw an out-of-the-box outdoor movie night this Summer here’s what you’ll need:

cereal sugar cookies Cereal Sugar Cookies:

1 bag of sugar cookie mix prepared like directions state. Add in two cups of cereal. I used Froot Loops & Corn Flakes. You could easily use Corn Pops, Apple Jacks or a combination of all. Bake for 15 minutes.

fruit loop cupcakesFroot Loop Cupcakes:

Mini vanilla store-bought cupcakes. Dip frosting into a bowl that is filled with Froot Loops. These were my favorite in terms of colorful, kid-like fun. Plus, they were really tasty!

krave popcornKrave Popcorn:

Cook 1 cup of corn kernels like the directions state on the package. Once the popcorn has popped sprinkle with salt and add melted butter. Add in 3 cups of Krave cereal, and jumbo m&m’s. Mix & enjoy!

I recommend using paper products to serve the food in outdoors. You don’t need to serve in boring white or clear. Make sure to check out the party section at Walmart. I found this 5-pack of blue bowls for .99¢

Ultimate Cereal Sundae

Ultimate Cereal Sundaes:

Vanilla Ice Cream or Yogurt, Hot Fudge, Peanut Butter Chips, Froot Loops, Special K Fruit & Yogurt, Licorice, jumbo M&M’s and Whipped Cream. The options are endless, this is just what I used based on the kids’ preferences.

I wanted the kids to be able to build their own sundaes. I had my sister scoop the ice cream into the paper bowlsand they added their toppings. I found the red & white stripe bowls at Home Goods.

{Check-out my video on Instagram to see how I put mine together!}

DSC_0323It was really fun taking the movie outside. It got the kids in their pajamas earlier than later, they got to calm down as the sun went down and then we had fun snacking on all our good night snacks I had prepared. It’s also nice watching the movie outside because if one or two kids (mainly my two-year-old) can’t sit still to watch an entire movie they can run around. Bringing along flashlights for the kids also made for some additional fun. The kids loved watching the sun sink down, creating a cotton candy colored sky. The pink and blue swirled sky was dotted with bats flying around and the joyful conversations around the outdoor living room made for one memorable Summer night. I hope you’ll take your next family night outside and enjoy some of the tasty good night treats I created with Kellogg’s.

Cactus Cupcakes

cactuspotcupcakes

I was contacted by the ever so talented, Erin of Gypsy Sol Designs, to bake for her nieces high school graduation party. I was so excited when she showed me her inspiration for cactus cupcakes. I was stumped at first because I didn’t know how I would bake the cake in terra-cotta pots. I did a little research and a quick trial and error and found out that the suggestion of lining the pots with foil would simply not work. A standard sized liner wouldn’t sit high up enough to bring the cake to top of the pot so I got to thinking…I began pulling out all the liners that I own and figured out that tulip liners would do the best.
