About Yours Truly

Well hello there! My name is Melissa and I am a late twenty-something-year-old mama who married the man of my dreams in 2007. I met my hubby, James, on my first day of community college in the summer of 2000 in Econ 100. My friend and I scoped out the class and I knew I would work my way towards his seat, which I did, slowly but surely. We had a few dates where we sat and people watched, I knew in December of 2000 that I would marry him but I had to wait for him to even ask me to be his girlfriend. We officially started dating in February of 2001 and he asked me to marry him in November of 2005. I was still in school earning my degree in English so we set the date to tie the knot on June 30, 2007. Seven days before, on my twenty-fifth birthday we closed escrow on our first house. I wouldn't say it's our dream house, but it's a start and we love working on little projects here and there. I spend my days as a SAHM, a master cupcake baker at night and most recently found a niche in little girls accessories and opened up shop on etsy, you can find me here . In January of 2009 we adopted our fur baby, Delilah, our dachshund-corgi mixed pup. She was our first baby and all we thought we would have until we were surprised in April when we learned we were expecting our first child in December.

On December 18, 2009 our lives changed forever as we welcomed our daughter, Payton Rylee into the world. She has changed our lives and made me fall in love all over again with James, my pup, my family and my life. My blog originally documented our lives as one and my attempts to be a Martha Stewart wannabe, my blog now documents my growing baby girl and the trials we face as new parents.
With an even bigger surprise, which as we all know life works this way, we found out that we are expecting baby #2, Brayden James, in November 2011. At our 20-week ultrasound we learned that our sweet boy will be born with a cleft lip and palate. Parenthood isn't always the easiest thing, we are thrown obstacles that God has given us to make it through and that's how I live each day. I hope you'll keep reading, because I love writing and sharing with y'all the chronicles of my life and my PB&J.
